Biography

I was born in Germany in 1967. My family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1970.

We traveled each summer. Alternating between camping around Europe and camping around the U.S. My father seemed to photograph everything. He was routinely 10-30 minutes behind us, getting his perfect shot.

In high school - Community High, Ann Arbor- there was a small darkroom students could use after school. My father let me use his camera. I was hooked.

In 1996, I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a B.F.A., concentrating in ceramics and photography. I worked for two years at Pewabic Pottery in Detroit (fire and mud!) before returning to E.M.U. for a teaching certification and then a M. A. in teaching.

All the while I've photographed everything. I've been lagging 10-30 minutes behind my family, getting the shot just right. I've accumulated a small camera collection I like to work with, pinhole cameras, Poloroids, medium format and now digital.

Currently I work as an art teacher in Wyandotte, Michigan. And I endulge myself as a photography student at Washtenaw Commumity College.
